Mausala Parva Summary
Thirty six years after the war, Gandhari's curse comes due. Cursed by sages whom the Yadava youths had mocked, an iron pestle is ground to powder and thrown into the sea, where it grows back as reeds of iron along the shore. At a festival at Prabhasa the Yadavas quarrel while drunk, tear up the reeds and slaughter one another. Balarama leaves his body in meditation, a hunter named Jara mistakes the resting Krishna's foot for a deer and shoots him, and the sea swallows Dwaraka as Arjuna leads the survivors away and finds even the Gandiva has lost its power.
