Kaunteya (kaunteya)

Kaunteya means son of Kunti, and covers Yudhishthira, Bhima and Arjuna, the three Pandavas she bore, as against the twins born to Madri. Krishna uses it in the Gita almost interchangeably with Partha, and the effect is the same, keeping the question of who is whose son in the air throughout a war fought over exactly that. Kunti's own secret gives the word its sting, since the greatest Kaunteya of all fights on the other side under a charioteer's name.
