Brahmastra (brahmāstra)

The Brahmastra is the weapon of Brahma, the most destructive of the celestial missiles, capable of annihilating an army and blighting the land it falls on for years. Very few warriors in the Mahabharata hold it, and the code forbids its use against ordinary soldiers or in single combat with a lesser opponent. Its worst hour comes after the war, when Ashvatthama sends the Brahmashira against the womb of Uttara to end the Pandava line, and Krishna curses him to wander for three thousand years with his wound unhealed.
