Akshaya Patra (akṣaya-pātra)

The Akshaya Patra is the inexhaustible vessel given to Yudhishthira by Surya so that the exiled Pandavas can feed the brahmins who follow them into the forest. It produces food without limit each day until Draupadi has eaten, after which it is empty until the next sunrise. Duryodhana exploits exactly this rule by sending Durvasa and his thousands of disciples to demand a meal after the day's food is gone, and Krishna saves them by eating a single grain of rice left clinging to the pot.
