About Surparaka
The coastal region that the Ocean threw up on its far shore for Parashurama, after Kasyapa accepted the earth from him as a sacrificial gift and forbade him to live within it. The tirtha of Rama there, with the two sacrificial platforms of Jamadagni called Pashana and Punaschandra, was a station on the great pilgrimage of the tirtha lists, and Yudhishthira came back to Surparaka from his western shrines before taking ship along the coast to Prabhasa.
