Prahasta (प्रहस्त): Captain of the Night-Rangers, one of the sages and supporting figures in the Mahabharata. A great Rakshasa kinsman of Ravana and one of the chief commanders of Lanka, who exchanged clouds of arrows with Vibhishana before charging him with a mace.

About Prahasta
A great Rakshasa kinsman of Ravana and one of the chief commanders of Lanka, who exchanged clouds of arrows with Vibhishana before charging him with a mace. Vibhishana, his own former prince, stood unmoved under the blow, charged a hundred-belled javelin with mantras and struck off his head, so that he fell like a great tree broken by the wind. It was the loss of Prahasta and Dhumraksha that made Ravana order the drums beaten to wake Kumbhakarna.
