Brahman (brahman)

Brahman is the absolute, the single reality from which everything arises and into which everything returns, without form, limit or second. It should not be confused with Brahma the creator god or with a brahmana, a member of the priestly class. The Mahabharata's philosophical books identify Brahman with the atman found within, and the Gita speaks of the state of Brahman as a settled peace that neither grief nor desire can disturb.
